Chalk Drawing

Do you remember that TV show Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings? Where Simon would draw on his bedroom chalk board and when done, he would climb his special ladder, look over the fence into The Land of Chalk Drawings, and see what impact his drawing had on their world?

When I look at chalk drawings, I wonder beyond my world into imaginary lands too. I was drawn into the driveway designs created just outside my front door this Easter evening by my daughter, niece,and nephew.

It’s a blue sky, tire-swinging kind of day in driveway world. Apples hang on the boughs of a giant tree that this little cosmos is centered upon. It’s a world where beehives buzz and butterflies brighten the day. That’s a blue dinosaur under the beehive by the way. Of course.

Roots grow deep and strong into the grassy green hillside. A lone flower in full bloom stands at the foot of the hill. What animals might be scurrying just inside the tree trunk door?

Twilight falls, and all that is left of the chunky green chalk lays in dust upon her hands.

SeaWorld

 

We went to SeaWorld on Thursday of spring break. Apparently the entire world is on break the week before Easter. So, saying it was crowded was an understatement.

The last time I went to SeaWorld was in July and the temperature was 105! That was so traumatic, I hadn’t gone back 10 years since, but I’m glad I finally did.

I like to explore natural exhibits most when I travel. I’m personally not a thrill seeker. I know big rides are a huge lure for theme parks, but what draws me in most are the natural wonders of this world.

SeaWorld has done a great job of showcasing God’s glorious sea creatures.

How can we wonder at the manta rays, the flamingos, the polar bears, the killer whales, the coral reefs…and not see God at work? He’s also alive in the 105 degree sun, the frigid arctic waters in the Shamu splash zone, alive in the balmy cool winter Florida breeze, and clearly alive on each child’s face watching a walrus feed.

SeaWorld allows us to encounter some of God’s most fascinating creatures. Any day we get to immerse ourselves in the glory of God’s creation and touch our hands to the glass a few feet away from a multitude of manta rays is a day well spent.

Gator Boys

We took a return trip to Everglades Holiday Park to once again ride the airboats and see the gator wrestling show. This time, Mike was our Gator Boy.

Always a good time at the gator pit.

The Everglades once again drew us into the watery wonderland and the magical creatures within.

Fort Pierce City Marina

Fort Pierce is not a town that first comes to mind when you say “Florida.” But it certainly says Florida when you are looking at it!
Walked the docks today after a great lunch at a local bakery. Mesmerized by pelicans and boats that beckon come sail away…

 
The Fort Pierce City Marina also hosts a few art pieces that are a part of the county’s Art in Public Places program.

For us, pelicans and art in public places, all a part of a day well spent.
